Woodcraft Presents the Freud Fusion Table Saw Blade
Compound Mitre Saws
Mitre saws, or chop saws, as they're more often called, are tools that have found a place in both the workshop and on the construction site. The DW718 is the largest of the DeWalt's mitre saws. Compound mitre saws add the further capability of tilting the blade from vertical to make bevel cuts. When using a mitre saw, clamp the timber in tightly, even a little movement can lead to a bad joint. The biggest hitch is choosing the right mitre saw for the kind of work you'll be doing. Today, compound mitre saws are often used for structural framing or smaller projects like creating picture frames. Further saws, like Table saws, Mitre saws, Double mitre saws, Notching saws, Vee-notch and cut off saws, Automatic saws and Automatic saws with pusher cover our product range. The new dw712 corded compound slide mitre saw is the most accurate saw the company has ever manufactured. The DW712 is also the first 216mm portable mitre saw to be able to cut a 60- mitre improving cutting angle performance on stairs and roof jointsThe new saw has a horizontal dual rail slide extending its capacity to 300x 70mm. Personally, I'd prefer to use a good hand mitre saw for most projects.
Compound Mitre Saws
You can make a variety of cuts such as bevel, mitre, compound mitre and longer length cuts with the sliding cutting arm. The term "compound" means that angles can be cut in two planes at once: the horizontal plane, often called the mitre angle; and the vertical plane, referred to as the bevel angle. The first important distinction over the common sliding compound mitre saws is the change from a gear transfer mechanism to a twin belt drive. In this report we explain the difference between different kinds of mitre saw, tell you what to consider when buying a slide compound mitre saw (the most flexible type), and give test results for six models.
Saws
Backsaws are normally used for precise work, such as cutting dovetails, mitres, or tenons in cabinetry and joinery. In recent years this has expanded to Slide Compound Mitre Saws which have increased cross cutting capacities.
Blades used with saws
Blade geometry is critical to the performance of chopsaws. Most miter saws are relatively small and portable, with common blade sizes ranging from eight to 12 inches. The cutting capacity of a mitre saw is determined by boththe blade diameter and sliding action if featured. The most basic mitre saws allow the blade to swing only side to side to cut mitred angles. Non-sliding models with a 12-inch blade are heavier in weight and can crosscut a two-by-eight. The blade can be tilted for mitred cutting either left or right up to 45 degrees with positive stops at 0, 15, 22 ½, 30 and 45 degrees, and also be tilted for bevel cutting in both directions. The distance that the blade protrudes through the table surface may be controlled. In a small number of cases the plastic blade guard on the saw has shattered in use, and the broken parts may cause minor injuries to the user.
