Should I play with more spin or should I play more flat?

The beauty of Ping Pong is how you apply different spins on different shots, Anyone can hit the ball flat with power. The difference is when you hit flat you tend to miss more shots; if you hit Spin you would be playing a smarter ball and a safer ball at the same time.
